I feel like health, and working in this area chose me…
As a young one and a teenager I was full of energy, and it wasn’t until my early 20’s that I felt like I couldn’t keep up anymore. The life I was living felt really ‘off’ and just too fast paced. I was exhausted most of the time, anxious and became very obsessive about my weight and body image. (At the same time I was playing sport often twice a day and placing lots of pressure on myself to be the best at everything I did) And this began my fascination into how the way we move our body and the food we eat can literally change the way we feel.
After years of searching for answers and doing lots of studying I ran a successful personal training business training women to have the body of their dreams. I knew all the tricks of the trade and everything there was to know about fitness. But something was missing for me, I wanted to be able to help these women feel the deep peace and self love I know they could. And I wanted that for myself too. I saw how fitness all too often was just another way to ‘get in shape’ or ‘work off the cake’ and I didn’t like what I saw. Fitness and moving our bodies should be enjoyable, not a punishment.
I studied conventional nutrition, Ayurvedic nutrition, naturopathic nutrition, nutritional therapy and detoxification. I saw the benefits in all of these approaches, but it wasn’t until I found the power of raw fruits, vegetables and herbs that I really saw the transformation in my clients in myself.
My approach became about ‘clearing the way’ in your body so you can be free from addictions, illness and anxiety and better feel the love that you are. I combined this with coaching qualifications and my background in psychology. It wasn’t until I really experienced what I had learnt that I realised all the wisdom I was looking for was actually inside me. I worked with world leaders in their field helping me to access this wisdom and as a result of doing so my life has totally shifted.
Despite all my scientific background my priority in life shifted into a fun and more carefree way of living. This became far more important than knowledge or proof of whether anything is real or can be proven.
Which brings me today where I am totally in love with my life and my body walking the path of health daily. I believe health is largely what we choose to eat and its also about being the full expression of ourselves in spite of reaction, showing vulnerability and witnessing it in others, having a best friend relationship with ourselves, getting still and listening to our inner guides, getting social and partying, trusting ourselves and others, showing love and receiving the love that comes back our way and laughing, a lot, especially with others.
I am moved by nature, the body and mind potential and the capacity of human connection. Dance and art infuse my life with colour and possibility
